32 killed in Bangladesh clashes, Indian government urges citizens to stay in contact
Bangladesh Unrest: Following 32 deaths in new skirmishes between protestors and Awami League supporters, India has urged its citizens residing in Bangladesh to be in contact and vigilant. Intense fights today also resulted in dozens of injuries.

- Protests over government jobs quota resumed today, demanding Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s resignation.
- Recently, over 200 people were killed in violent clashes between police and mostly student protesters against the quota system reserving 30% of government jobs for relatives of 1971 War of Independence veterans.
- Clashes erupted this morning between protesters demanding the government’s resignation and supporters of the Awami League, Chhatra League, and Jubo League activists.
- The Bangladesh Home Ministry imposed an indefinite countrywide curfew from 6 pm today.
- Prime Minister Hasina labeled the protesters as terrorists and called for a firm response.
- Ms. Hasina convened a meeting of the National Committee on Security Affairs, attended by chiefs of the army, navy, air force, police, and other agencies.
- Four Awami League supporters were killed and over 100 people injured in Rangpur; two people were killed in Bogra and Magura, including a Chhatra Dal leader.
- Protesters under the Anti-Discrimination Students Movement demanded Ms. Hasina’s resignation and justice for those killed in the quota reform protests.
- Several vehicles at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) were torched on Sunday by unidentified individuals, and people were seen vandalizing cars, ambulances, motorcycles, and buses.
- Protesters rejected Ms. Hasina’s invitation for dialogue, consolidating their demands for the government’s resignation.
