10 dead, 3 injured in tragic truck-tractor trolley collision in Mirzapur
PTC News Desk: A devastating accident on the Prayagraj-Varanasi highway claimed the lives of 10 people and left three others seriously injured when a speeding truck collided with a tractor trolley in the early hours of Friday. The tragic incident occurred near Kacchwa in Mirzapur district, as the laborers were returning home after completing a rooftop laying job in Bhadohi.
According to Mirzapur Superintendent of Police (SP) Abhinandan, the accident took place around 1 a.m. on Friday on the Grand Trunk (GT) Road. The truck, moving at high speed, collided with the tractor trolley from behind, instantly killing 10 passengers. All the victims were labourers heading back to their homes in Varanasi after finishing their work.
The deceased, all residents of villages under the jurisdiction of Mirzamurad police station in Varanasi, were identified as Bhanu Pratap (25), Vikas Kumar (20), Anil Kumar (35), Suraj Kumar (22), Sanohar (25), Rakesh Kumar (25), Prem Kumar (40), Rahul Kumar (26), Nitin Kumar (22), and Roshan (27). The identity of one deceased individual is yet to be confirmed.
Among the injured are Aakash (18), Jamuni (26), and Ajay Saroj (50), who were immediately rushed to Banaras Hindu University (BHU) hospital. Their condition is reported to be stable, according to authorities. The bodies of the deceased have been sent for post-mortem examinations.
The incident has shocked the local community, and police officials are investigating the circumstances that led to the accident. The stretch of highway where the collision occurred is known for heavy traffic, raising concerns over road safety measures in the area.
